WHAT IS OZONE
Ozone is created during thunderstorms and at some waterfalls. These extreme conditions produce ozone from oxygen with natural high voltages. The “fresh, clean, spring rain” smell after a thunderstorm is ozone. The word Ozone is derived from the Greek word ozein, which means to smell.
Ozone generators are able to recreate the process found in nature with a switch of a button with the use of corona discharge technology. It is able to to turn oxygen or O2 in to ozone or 03.

WHAT DOES OZONE DO
Ozone has three atoms from split oxygen molecules when corona discharge technology had been switched on. The third atom is able to attach itself in a chemical reaction to odours, bacteria or viruses and destroys those compounds. This process is often referred to as oxidation and is highly effective in removing all odours, bacteria and viruses that the process is exposed to. Ozone essentially reverts back to oxygen after it is used. This makes it a very environmentally friendly oxidant.
HOW LONG DOES OZONE LAST
Ozone doesn’t last long, it does its cleaning job and safely turns back into oxygen. Once the ozone generator is switched on an oxygen is then converted into ozone, the chemical reaction referred to as oxidation starts to take affect and will then start to turn back into oxygen. Higher temperatures turn ozone into oxygen a lot faster which is often termed residual ozone. Ozone typically lasts for 30 minutes.
IS OZONE SAFE
Too much of anything is bad for you, even the chlorine found in our tap water. The right levels of ozone that are set with ELAVO products are safe to use. Governing bodies like occupational safety and health agency (OSHA) have proposed Maximum Acceptable Concentration (MAC) values for ozone.
For ozone the MAC-values is 0.06 PPM for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week (PPM = Parts Per Million). For a maximum of 15 minutes a MAC-value of 0.3 PPM is applied.
